Mark, as you may have expected, is a former co-worker of both mine and Eric's from Fluor. A Newfie from Cornerbrook, Mark also went to UNB with Eric.
Mark, like Gloria, Kolja, Eric and myself started at Fluor around the same time, and were part of a great group of young Engineers working there. Over time, the home of Mark and his wife, Mel (also an East Coaster from New Glasgow) became the unofficial, outside work meeting grounds for many of us.
Even after the birth of their first child, MacLean, Mark and Mel continued to open their home to folks on a fairly regular basis... for hockey games (especially after Mark got the nice big HDTV!), birthday parties, and very cut-throat karaoke competitions!
Like any good Newfoundlander, Mark always likes a good party and is always encouraging people to drink more; as was witnessed during a beer can pyramid competition at Nashville North during Stampede.

Lucky for Eric and I, there are lots of local connections for this family - along with Mel's roots, Mark also has family in Nova Scotia - and therefore more reasons for them to come visit! While only Mark is slated to make it to our wedding in September, we know it won't be long before the East draws them back again.
